Tanzania offers breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife and vibrant cultures, making it the perfect destination for everyone seeking adventure, relaxation, and cultural immersion. It has the highest mountain on the African continent, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and features the best-known of Africa's great lakes, Lake Victoria.
Zanzibar has been a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania since 1964, maintaining its own government. It consists of many small islands and two large ones, at only 25 - 50km away from the coast of Tanzania's mainland. It is here that you find over 25 of the world's most beautiful and world-class beaches. At the same time, it is rich in history and culture, boasting several different ethnic groups.

Our projects in Tanzania and Zanzibar aim to empower young people to become social leaders. Volunteers reside in a multicultural environment, working collaboratively as a team to undertake tasks or institutional projects.

We are thrilled to now offer various social projects in one of Africa's most beautiful countries as well. Tanzania has the largest concentration of animals per square mile in the world, the landscapes are amazing and, on Zanzibar, you may combine your volunteer project with a holiday in paradise.

Other things to consider

Accommodation

Accommodation will be provided for you by the project. We suggest also bringing a sleeping mat and sleeping bag/pillow for travel and weekends away on adventures. Bathrooms are usually shared; meals are prepared for you. There is a lounge area for relaxing, reading, or playing games. Visit our project list for detailed project descriptions.

During your free time

You will work 5 days a week at most projects and have 2 days off. In your free time, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery or organise trips to local attractions with your fellow volunteers. As the largest country in eastern Africa, there is lots to do. The Serengeti National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered to be the oldest, the largest and the best National Park worldwide. Kilimanjaro is the fourth highest mountain on Earth so, of course, the Kilimanjaro National Park is a major hiking and climbing destination.
Zanzibar, on the other hand, is known for its white sandy beaches, its spice farms as well as Stone Town.
