In the footsteps of a Good Hope Volunteer
Recently, Juliana (our social media marketing expert) and I asked the group of GHV alumni for a photo of their feet, a simple task, everyone with a camera phone these days can easily snap where they are in the world. I imagined it that we would see views that Good Hope Volunteers see every day, no matter where they were in the world. The feedback was better than I could ever have hoped for! Dozens of past and present volunteers from all over the world stepped out and shared their views. I was blown away, not only by the number, but by the sweetness of the replies.
This is what the Good Hope Volunteer programme does, it’s a family, it’s a group of like-minded individuals that come together from all over the world. We meet and we share and we work and we laugh and we cry together. And then when we leave, we remain. We remain a part of a culture of givers, and a culture of people who care, and a family who will support and love and be kind to each other for the remainder of our days. Friendships are made here, and walls are broken down here. And it’s a privilege to be part of it.
Wherever your path may lead in the world, whoever’s footsteps you follow. If the path becomes a bit rocky along the way, and if your footing perhaps is not as sure as you would need. You can always count on the family you made in Africa to help you through.
Thank you for being a Good Hope Volunteer.
